Love Beyond the Promise

By Chauntelle A

There are moments when the desire for romantic love rises up unexpectedly—perhaps after decades of embracing singleness, content and at peace. And yet, in the quiet scroll through social media or the stillness of an evening alone, something stirs. A longing. A question.

Recently, I came across a post that read, “Marriage is not the promised land.” It stopped me in my tracks.

In our culture, we often elevate romantic relationships as the ultimate fulfillment—what we’re supposed to strive for, the sign that we’ve "made it." But I’m reminded that the deepest, most lasting love we can experience doesn't come from a partner, but from our Heavenly Father.

Marriage is a beautiful gift, yes. Companionship is a blessing. But neither was designed to replace the role of God’s love in our lives. Human love is powerful but limited. God’s love is infinite. While human love may ebb and flow, God's love remains constant—steadfast, unshakable, and unconditional.

Scripture reminds us in 1 John 4:8 that “God is love.” That means real love isn’t just something He gives—it’s who He is. And that love finds us in all seasons of life. In singleness. In marriage. In loss. In waiting.

Romantic love may be sweet, but it was never meant to be our Savior. If you’re aching for connection, know this: you are already fully known, fully seen, and fully loved. You were chosen before you ever chose Him.

So whether you are single by choice, by circumstance, or living in a covenant of marriage—know that your heart's truest home is in God. His love doesn't diminish if you never walk down an aisle. His affection isn’t delayed until a partner arrives. His promise is not waiting in the arms of another—it’s already wrapped around you.

You may still desire romantic love. And that’s okay. But let it be rooted in something stronger. Something eternal.

Let it be grounded in Love beyond the promise—the kind of love that doesn't fade, doesn’t fail, and never forgets you.

A Prayer to Close

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving us with a love that transcends time, status, and circumstance. Remind us, especially in moments of longing, that we are already deeply loved and chosen by You. Whether we walk through life single or joined in marriage, let our identity be anchored in Your everlasting love. May we seek You first, and may every other love in our lives flow from the fullness of being loved by You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

Sacred Spaces: How Setting Boundaries Opens Doors to God’s Best

Setting Boundaries for Healing and Growth In a world that constantly demands our attention, energy, and presence, setting boundaries isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. Recently, I made a decision that some might find difficult to understand: I chose to take a break from dating. Not because relationships are inherently problematic, but because I recognized that, in this season of my life, they were becoming a distraction from what God is calling me to focus on: healing, purpose, and personal growth. The Wisdom of Seasons Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Too often, we rush through life’s seasons, eager to experience everything at once. Yet there is profound wisdom in recognizing where you are and honoring the season God has placed you in. For me, this is a season of rebuilding and restoration—and I’m learning that setting boundaries around that intention isn’t weakness; it’s wisdom. The Busyness Trap I’ve no...

The Courage to Begin Again: Embracing New Chapters at Any Age

There's something about milestone birthdays that causes us to pause and take inventory. As I recently crossed the threshold of a significant age—one of those big, round numbers that society tends to mark with both celebration and quiet contemplation—I found myself making a decision that surprised even me: I chose to begin again. When Certainty Makes Way for Possibility Beginning again isn't always planned. Sometimes it arrives after loss or disappointment. Other times, it emerges from a growing realization that the life you've built, while perhaps comfortable or expected, isn't the one your soul longs for. For me, it was the latter. Despite achievements and stability in certain areas, I recognized a quiet but persistent voice within me saying, "There's more. This isn't all." Not more stuff, not more accolades—but more alignment with who I truly am and what brings me genuine peace. So I made the decision to start clean in multiple areas of my life. New ...
