Reclaiming My Strength: A Journey to Spiritual and Physical Health

By: Chauntelle A

For years, fasting has been my Achilles' heel—a challenge I could never quite master. Despite countless attempts, the two-day mark remained an insurmountable barrier. For someone who prides herself on willpower, this struggle has been both humbling and perplexing.

After all, I'm the same person who, on a New Year's whim in 2003, gave up pork—and twenty years later, that commitment stands unwavering. This kind of self-discipline has always been woven into the fabric of who I am. Yet, when it comes to fasting, something has always held me back.

Until now.

Why This Moment? Why This Challenge?

As I stand on the threshold of a milestone birthday, I find myself contemplating not just the years behind me, but the woman I'm becoming. My relationship with food has evolved over time, and truthfully, it's become more of a crutch than a source of nourishment. Those late-night fast food runs and comfort fries? They've extracted their toll—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

This journey isn't about proving my worth to others. It's about reclaiming my inner strength, nurturing my health, and rediscovering my discipline. Deep down, I know God has greater plans for me, and I want to step into this next chapter of my life feeling empowered—both in spirit and body.

The Game Plan: Building a Foundation for Success

Experience has taught me that diving headfirst into an extended fast is a recipe for disappointment. This time, I'm taking a different approach—building gradually, intentionally, and sustainably.

Phase 1: Establishing Sacred Boundaries with Food (Weeks 1-2)

"I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should." – 1 Corinthians 9:27 (NLT)

* Create a Sacred Evening Window: No eating past 8 PM, allowing my body to embrace its natural fasting rhythm

* Break Free from Artificial Sweeteners: Eliminating sodas, candies, and processed sweets to reset my taste buds and break the cycle of sugar dependency

* Embrace Hydration: Increasing water intake to support natural detoxification and manage hunger signals

Phase 2: Embracing Intermittent Fasting (Weeks 3-4)

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." – Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)

* Begin with Gentle 12-Hour Fasts: Creating a mindful pause between 8 PM and 8 AM

* Progress to 16:8 Rhythm: Extending the fasting window to 16 hours to tap into fat-burning and strengthen self-discipline

* Nourish Mindfully: Continuing to avoid artificial sugars while focusing on whole, life-giving foods during eating windows

Phase 3: Expanding Horizons (Weeks 5+)

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled."– Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)

* Explore 18:6 or OMAD: Reducing eating windows to deepen discipline and metabolic benefits

* Embrace the 24-Hour Challenge: Breaking through previous barriers with renewed preparation and purpose

* Deepen Spiritual Connection: Using fasting periods for intentional prayer, reflective journaling, and scripture meditation

Phase 4: Embracing the Daniel Fast (Weeks 6+)

"I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips." – Daniel 10:3 (NIV)

* Transform My Plate: Transitioning to a plant-based, whole-food approach inspired by Daniel's dedication

* Prioritize Nutrient Density: Embracing fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes as primary fuel

* Align Body and Spirit: Pairing physical discipline with intentional prayer for clarity and purpose

Your Invitation to Journey Together

I harbor no illusions—this path won't be easy. There will be moments of weakness, days of doubt. But I also know that within me lies untapped strength. This journey transcends mere dietary changes; it's about cultivating discipline, practicing self-love, and deepening faith. It's about stepping into my next chapter feeling renewed, restored, and spiritually awakened.

"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." – Matthew 19:26 (NIV)

The Blessing of a Soft Life

The Blessing of a Soft Life Faith reveals itself most profoundly in moments of clarity, when divine perspective illuminates the path we've walked. This is one such moment. Recently, I fell into the habit of listening to Reddit posts on YouTube. What began as simple entertainment transformed into revelation as story after story of struggle washed over me. The truth struck like lightning: I've lived what many would call a soft life. For those unfamiliar, a soft life isn't about wealth—it's about a foundation of stability, comfort, and safety that many never experience. It's the privilege of facing life's challenges with resources rather than empty hands. I am not wealthy by traditional standards, but my journey has been cushioned in ways I failed to recognize. As a tour guide, security guide, and airline gate agent, my work provided not just income, but dignity and structure without crushing pressure. While others clock endless hours in punishing conditions, I...

The Heart Never Forgets – But God Heals What We Carry

By Chauntelle A | 3 Minutes in Faith Some people will tell you that if you just give it enough time, the pain will go away. But what happens when it doesn’t? What do you do when your heart still flinches at the memory, still aches in the quiet, still wakes you up at night? The heart never forgets—not really. It remembers every "I’m fine" when you weren’t. It remembers the goodbye you never got. It remembers the moment everything changed. And yet, while your heart holds on to all of that… God holds on to you. Scripture says in Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” That means He doesn’t ignore your pain. He leans into it with you. God doesn’t expect you to forget what happened. But He does invite you to heal—and there is power in that difference. Healing doesn’t erase your story. It reclaims it. It says, “Yes, I was hurt. But I’m still here.” It says, “That moment shaped me, but it didn’t stop me.” It reminds you that y...
